Occasionally, a client may request an inspection of 2 or more homes/buildings on the same property. These homes have the same address, but maybe one is "Unit 1" and the other is "Unit 2." The client only wants to pay one invoice, and you only want to book one inspection. What do you do?

Easy! Book the inspection as you normally would, with 2 reports. You can then rename the inspection reports to reflect each unit. In this article, we'll show you how to rename the reports to know which one is which!

How to Edit the Name of a Report

Editing the name of a report is easy - it just takes a few simple steps. You can edit the names of multiple reports or just one report. In this section, we'll go over step-by-step how to edit the name of a report.

πŸ’‘ Quick tip: Click on the video above to expand it in another window.

  1. Click on the inspection to open the "Inspection Details" page

  2. Click on the report to open the web editor

  3. Click on the default display name

  4. Enter "Unit 1" in the Name field for the first report

  5. Click "Save"

  6. You'll now see the "Unit 1" name on the Inspection Details page

  7. Follow the same steps for the second report.

  8. Once finished, you'll see both reports renamed for their respective unit.

For more than 2 reports, repeat the same steps for as many reports as you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • My client has a duplex or triplex building. Will this trick work for their inspection?

    • Sure thing! This won't impact any part of the inspection process, the client's ability to view the reports, or anything else. It simply gives each report a different display name.

  • I have a potential client who needs an apartment building inspected. The building has 8 units. Can I use this same idea?

    • Yes and no. Too many reports on one inspection can cause unexpected issues, particularly with syncing. To avoid any issues, it's recommended that you split up the reports over a few inspections. For example, the first appointment could have the first 4 reports and the second appointment could have the remaining 4 reports.
