When using integrated payments, you'll get 3.25% + 40 cents per transaction as a flat rate with no additional fees. And it only takes a couple of minutes to set up! You'll also get tighter feature integration, like taking payments in the mobile app with a slick camera interface and the ability to process refunds on-platform. With our built-in payment processor, you can take credit cards, debit cards, and even ACH payments online.

Payout Schedule

US/Canada-based Customers

Next-day payouts for credit and debit cards! Note that this is the next business day, so if you collect a payment on a Friday, it won't appear in your account until Monday.

Read this article to find your country and the fastest payout schedule Stripe can provide.

After you do $1k in transactions, you'll get a notice to enter additional details into your account like your SSN or EIN if you are using a business account. Be sure to do this to keep payouts coming!

How to Set up Spectora Payments:

It's easy to set up Spectora Payments! In this section, you'll see the full steps to set up Payments with Spectora.

  1. Click "Settings"

  2. Click "Payments"

  3. Click "Set up Payments"

  4. Choose how you want to set up Payments - either as a business with an EIN or as an individual with your SSN

  5. To get started, enter your email address then click "Continue"

  6. Enter your mobile number, then click "Continue"

  7. You'll receive a verification code for your mobile number. Enter the code once you've received it.

  8. Verify the country you're in, then click "Continue"

  9. Click "Continue"

  10. Verify your details, then click "Continue"

  11. Enter your website URL, then click "Continue"

  12. Select an account for payouts. You can choose to use a bank account or a debit card.

  13. You'll be prompted to verify your banking/card info. Once completed, click "Continue"

  14. Once you've verified all of your personal info and banking info, click "Agree and submit"

You are ready to receive payments now!

Note that after you do $1k in transactions you'll get an email to add more details like your SSN. Be sure to fill those out when prompted to keep your payouts coming!


Get Paid Online

Your clients will now be able to pay you online by clicking "Pay Now" in their Client Portal:

When clients enter their credit/debit card information, they'll see the option to save their info through Link. Link is a completely optional service through Stripe that allows your clients to save their information for fast, 1-click checkouts in the future. Rest assured, their data is encrypted to keep it secure!

Note: If you need to take payment over the phone, click "Client View" on your inspection page and go through this process as the client would.


Take payments on-site

  1. On the Inspection Details page on your app, tap the orange "Collect Payment" button:

2. Then, select Credit/Debit Card.

3. You can use our card scanner or tap Enter Manually to type in the information yourself.

Refunds

  1. To process refunds, visit the Inspection Details page

  2. Click the 3 dots in the Fees & Payments box. Select "Edit Fees & Payments"

  3. You'll be able to issue full or partial refunds with this orange button:

When issuing partial refunds, we will refund a proportional percentage of the original transaction fee. For example, if your initial charge was $100, your original fee was likely $3.65 (3.25% + 40 cents). If you refund $10, that is 10% of the original charge. The overall fee for the partially refunded charge would be reduced by $0.37, which is 10% of the original fee. That would make the fee on this $3.28. Note that this is different than a $90 charge, where the fee would be $3.33, because of the proportional refund!

Dashboard

Now, instead of using a separate payment processor's interface, you'll view all your payment information in Spectora. From the main dropdown, select "Payments" to see a history of payments received. You'll also see your current balance for pending payouts.

Payments are powered by Stripe, one of the largest and most trusted payment processors around. They power payments for companies like Twitter, Lyft, Shopify, SquareSpace, SalesForce, Facebook, Pinterest, Under Armour, and Kickstarter. By white-labeling Stripe for use by our inspectors, we absorb some of the risks associated with individual accounts and can offer this lower rate. As we add more inspectors to the platform, we may be able to offer even lower rates in the future!


Note to former Stripe users: While our system uses Stripe, it is separate from your former Stripe account. You will no longer use the Stripe dashboard or your previous Stripe account. All interaction for refunds, balances, etc. is done within Spectora.


Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why are my payouts paused? Why aren't I receiving my payouts?

    If you're not receiving your payouts, you'll want to check your Stripe account under Settings > Payments > Payout Options. There may be information missing from your account or there may be documents that need to be verified.

  • It's the next day and I haven't gotten my payout yet. Why?

    This could be for a few reasons! If the payment was made via credit card on a Friday, the payout will be deposited into your account the following Monday. The payout schedule is based on business days, so weekends are not included. If the payment was made via ACH (bank transfer), it may need another day or two to process! ACH payments take about 2 business days to fully process and deposit.

  • Can I use my own payment processor? My bank said I could use theirs.

    No, you aren't able to use an outside payment processor. We have a closed API, so other processors cannot be integrated with our system.

  • My client wants to pay with an American Express (AMEX) card. Can they do that?

    Absolutely! Our payment processor accepts all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express (AMEX), and Discover.

  • My clients are seeing an extra step in their checkout process asking for their information to be saved. Is this legit? Do they have to do this?

    Don't fret - this is a legitimate completely optional step! Stripe offers an option for clients to save their card information for faster checkouts in the future through Link. They do not have to save their information if they'd prefer not to!
