Due to the amount of storage large videos take up, Spectora has a limit set up for uploading videos directly to reports, but they can still be added through embedding! Spectora imposes specific upload limitations: a 5 MB file size cap for desktop uploads and a 30-second duration limit for both the mobile app and web editor.
Embedding just means to link a video, image, or other information from another website in a way which allows it to show as part of the post or report so you and your Clients can view the videos easily in the report.
To do this, we recommend creating a free Youtube channel which you can upload your videos to! Once they are in YouTube you can use embedding code to add the video link to a report, email, agreement, or template. Alternatively, you can use other public hosting platforms like Google Drive or Dropbox to host your videos and obtain shareable links for embedding.
Compress the Video File
If your video file is slightly over the size limit, consider using an online video compressor like FreeConvert's video compressor to reduce its size before uploading.
Finding the code to embed
The first step is to upload the video to YouTube, after this, click Share > Embed Video > Copy. For Google Drive or Dropbox, upload the video, generate a shareable link, and copy it for embedding.
Adding the Video to Spectora
Once the code is copied, go to the place you want to embed on Spectora.com. On the report comments there is a video camera icon to add the copied code to. Click the Camera icon > Embedded Code > Paste the code. Alternatively, you can highlight the text where you want the video, click the link icon, and paste the video URL to embed it.
What does this look like?
The embedded video link will show like any other photo which is added directly to the report, agreement, or email! To make videos more prominent, consider placing them in the Overview Grid at the top of the section. Go to your inspection, click the report name, select the section, click the ✏️ icon, uncheck 'Hide the Overview grid/tab for this section,' and save the changes.
