Spectora's Cost Estimator feature is a great tool that helps you give your clients the confidence of upfront pricing estimates for defect repairs.

The Cost Estimator isn't just about efficiency – it's a powerful tool that can enhance customer satisfaction and solidify your reputation for professionalism.

Enabling the Cost Estimator

You can quickly enable the Cost Estimator in your account settings. Once enabled, you'll see cost estimate amounts listed in your templates. These amounts can be edited and adjusted as needed to provide clients with an accurate idea of how much a repair may cost. In this section, we'll show you how to enable the Cost Estimator and how it will show up in your templates.

  1. Click "Settings"

  2. Click "Report Tools"

  3. Click "Enable Cost Estimator"

  4. Click "Templates"

  5. The defects in your template will now have "Cost Estimate Defaults"

    1. These can be set to any amount you would like


How to Use the Cost Estimator on the Web

After enabling the Cost Estimator, you can provide an estimate for any defects listed in your reports. You can also quickly adjust the estimate amounts if needed while editing your report. In this section, we'll show you how to use the Cost Estimator on the web.

  1. Click on the inspection to open the Inspection Details page

  2. Click the report name to open the web editor

  3. Click on a section to open it

  4. Click on an item to open it

  5. Select a defect by checking the box to the left of the defect name

  6. Click "Provide Cost Estimate" inside the defect comment

  7. The default amounts from your template will show

  8. Adjust the estimate amounts if needed

  9. The cost estimate amounts will show as a green flag in the corner of the defect on the web report

  10. The cost estimates will also show below the defect comment in the PDF report


Adding Cost Estimator Amounts in the App

If you need to add or adjust an estimated amount while working in the app, you can easily do so!

  1. Tap on the inspection in the app to open it

  2. Tap on the report name

  3. Tap on a section to open it

  6. Tap the "Estimate" button to provide a cost estimate for the selected defect

  7. Edit the estimate amounts (if needed)

  7. Tap the "Estimate" button to provide a cost estimate for the selected defect

  8. Edit the estimate amounts (if needed)
