Occasionally, your client may have someone else pay for the inspection. This could be their agent, the listing agent, the seller, or even a family member or friend. As the inspector, you have two options for how the third-party person can pay for the inspection. In this article, we'll cover both: sharing the payment link or creating a new inspection.

Option A: Sharing the Payment Link via Email

The first option is to send the payment link via email from the Inspection Details page. It takes just a few steps, but you can easily send the email out to anyone needed.

πŸ”΄ Important Note: πŸ”΄

The person who receives this shared email WILL have access to the final report if you send the client portal link! The payment option and the published report all live inside the same portal, so the third party person will have access to both.

Be sure to check with your client before sharing this email, as they may not want the other person to have access to the report.

πŸ’‘ Quick tip: Click on the video above to expand it in another window.

  1. Click on the inspection to open the Inspection Details page

  2. Click "Share Details" in the Emails box

  3. Fill in the recipient's email then edit the subject and body of the message

    1. Be sure to leave the "Sign & Pay" button - this is the link to the client portal

  4. Click "Send Email"

Option B: Creating A New Inspection for the Other Party

If you do not want the third-party person to have access to the report, you'll want to create a new inspection instead. Creating a new inspection allows you to take payment from the other person without giving them access to your client's final inspection report.

πŸ’‘ Quick tip: Click on the video above to expand it in another window.

  1. Click "+New Inspection"

  2. Enter the date, time, and address as normal

  3. Enter the third-party person or the agent as the CLIENT for the new inspection

  4. Select a service from the dropdown menu as normal

    1. Or add a manual fee with the "Manual Edit" button

  5. Click "Save Inspection"

And that's it! Now you can have the agent or a third party pay for the inspection in whatever way works best for you and your client.
