Great news!

You now have the option to make your Spectora account more secure. 🔐

Customers have been asking us for two-factor authentication (2FA), and now it’s available for you to enable–if you choose.

**You'll use 2FA at every login; after a one-time setup.**

What’s 2FA?

  • It's a security process that requires users to provide two different authentication factors to verify their identity. These factors typically fall into three categories:

    1. Knowledge Factor: Something only the user knows, like a password or a PIN.

    2. Possession Factor: Something only the user has, such as a smartphone, token, or security key.

    3. Inherence Factor: Something unique to the user, like a fingerprint or retina scan.

To put it simply - it’s an extra layer of security for your account. Instead of just one step (entering your email and password), a second step is required to prove you own the account each time you log in.

Why is 2FA a smart option?

  • If your account is hacked, data could be stolen and used fraudulently.

  • You’ve worked hard to build your business; 2FA can help you defend it.

How will 2FA work?

  1. Click "Settings"

  2. Click "User Options"

  3. Click "Enable Two-Factor Authentication"

  4. Click on your preferred authenticator app to download it

  5. Click "Continue" once you've downloaded your chosen authenticator app

  6. Scan the generated QR code with your authenticator app

  7. Enter the code generated by your authenticator app

  8. Click "Verify"

  9. Download your backup codes

  10. Click the box to verify that you've downloaded your backup codes

  11. Click "Return to Settings"

For all subsequent logins on the web, you’ll be prompted to enter a 2FA code.

Authenticator apps generate fresh codes about every 30 seconds.

*Note: For EACH login, you'll need to open your authenticator app to retrieve a fresh code.

What if you can't access your authenticator app?

  • During the 2FA setup process, we'll provide you with backup codes you'll download and keep somewhere safe--ready for just this occasion.

What if you don't want to use 2FA anymore?

If you no longer wish to use 2-factor authentication, you disable this setting in your Spectora account.

  1. Click "Settings"

  2. Click "User Options"

  3. Click "Disable Two-Factor Authentication"

  4. Enter the code generated by your authenticator app or your backup code

  5. Click "Yes, Disable 2FA"

We hope you’ll enable this security feature and sleep a little better tonight! 😴
