How to Cancel Your Spectora Subscription or Manage Auto-Renewal
Canceling your Spectora subscription or managing auto-renewal is a straightforward process. This guide provides step-by-step instructions, important notes on cancellation policies, and details for specific subscription types.
General Steps to Cancel a Subscription
To cancel your Spectora subscription:
Log in to your Spectora account.
Click your profile picture in the top-right corner.
Select Billing from the dropdown menu.
Navigate to the Subscriptions section.
Locate the subscription you want to cancel and click Cancel next to it.
Important Notes on Cancellation Policies
Timing Matters: Cancel before your next billing date to avoid being charged for the next billing cycle. There are no refunds or credits for unused days.
Access Retention: After canceling, you retain access to your account and its features (e.g., templates, settings, reports) until the end of the current billing period. However, you won’t be able to schedule new inspections, publish new reports, or send emails and text messages unless you resubscribe.
No Pause Option: Spectora does not offer a pause or hold option for subscriptions. You can cancel and resubscribe later if needed.
Managing Auto-Renewal
Spectora subscriptions auto-renew annually by default, based on the original purchase as a yearly plan. To prevent auto-renewal, you must manually cancel your subscription before the next billing date. There is no setting to turn off auto-renewal directly.
Canceling Specific Subscription Types
Spectora Advanced
To cancel a Spectora Advanced subscription:
Click your profile picture in the top-right corner.
Select Billing from the dropdown menu.
Navigate to the Spectora Advanced section.
Click Disable Advanced to cancel.
Note: Any outstanding inspections set to bill will still be charged. After those are billed, new inspections will no longer include the Advanced fee.
Add-Ons or User Subscriptions
To cancel add-ons or user subscriptions:
Click your profile picture in the top-right corner.
Select Billing from the dropdown menu.
Navigate to the Subscriptions section.
Click Cancel next to the add-on or user subscription you want to end.
Note: Canceling a grandfathered subscription forfeits legacy pricing. If you resubscribe later, current pricing will apply.
FAQs
What if I need help canceling my subscription?
You can also request cancellation by starting a chat with Spectora support. Note that the mobile app’s "Request Account Deletion" option does not cancel paid subscriptions; it is intended for deleting all account data and cannot proceed if there is an active paid subscription.
Can I get a refund if my subscription auto-renewed by mistake?
Spectora does not typically offer refunds. Future cancellations should be managed from your Billing page to avoid auto-renewal charges.
Why can’t Spectora cancel a subscription for me?
Only the account owner or an admin of the company profile can authorize cancellations or changes. Spectora cannot cancel subscriptions on behalf of users.
How can I check if a subscription is still active?
Go to the Billing section and open the Subscriptions page. Look for the subscription in question (it may appear toward the bottom of the list). If it shows as active, select it and choose the option to cancel.
Why Might My Subscription Renewal Date Be Different Than Expected?
Your subscription renewal date might differ from your expectations due to adjustments made to your account or changes to align with your account setup. Additionally, certain Spectora services—such as Website Hosting—may have separate renewal schedules from your main inspector software subscription.
Why Did I Receive Multiple Renewal Emails?
Receiving multiple renewal emails can occur if you have more than one active service on your account. For example, you might have an Inspector subscription and a Website Hosting subscription, both renewing on the same date. These emails correspond to distinct services and do not indicate duplicate billing for the same service. You will only be charged for one Inspector subscription and one Website Hosting subscription.
Can I Change My Subscription Billing Date?
In Spectora, you can only change your billing date to a different date in the past, not a future date. If you need to avoid a renewal charge for the upcoming cycle, you can cancel your subscription before it renews. Even after cancellation, your inspection data will be retained, and you’ll still have access to most parts of the software. However, without an active subscription, you won’t be able to schedule new inspections, publish new reports, or send emails and text messages.
By following these steps and guidelines, you can effectively manage your Spectora subscriptions and avoid unwanted charges.
