How to Use AI Report Assist: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Enable AI Assist in Settings ✅
Once you've been invited, you'll need to turn on AI Assist before your first inspection. Go to the three bars → Settings, and toggle AI Assist on.
This setting can be turned on and off if you want to try it on certain jobs to start
If you need to disable AI Assist during an inspection, send any pending inputs for analysis first and approve or dismiss the returned comments before turning it off. Inputs that haven't been processed won't be accessible from the standard inspection interface once the setting is off.
Step 2: Open a Section and Start Recording 🎙️
From the section screen, tap into any section. You'll notice a bottom bar with three inputs: a microphone, your gallery, and a camera.
Tap the microphone to start recording!
Step 3: Speak Your Findings Out Loud 🗣️
You don't need to record one finding at a time, speak through all of your findings for that area in a single recording (up to two minutes). Cover defects, limitations, and informational comments together.
For example: "I'm at the exterior of the house. The house is stucco. The driveway and walkways are concrete. There needs to be a handrail added on the porch. There are some trees too close to the house and some ponding near the foundation. The fence is wooden and there are some broken slats."
When you are finished, hit "Done" to stop the audio.
Step 4: Add Photos 📸
After saving an audio entry, add any relevant photos using the camera or your gallery. Photos are grouped with that audio entry and will be available to assign when you review your comment matches.
Photos are not automatically matched to comments by AI. You'll add them during review.
Step 5: Continue Through the Inspection 🔎
Keep moving through your sections. You can navigate between sections using the bottom bar, and you can keep adding audio and photo inputs as you go.
Step 6: Send For Comment Matching ✨
When you're ready — either throughout the inspection or at the end — tap the sparkle icon in the top right corner and hit "Analyze" to send your inputs to the cloud to be matched to the right comments.
Inspecting offline? No problem. Add all your inputs as normal and send them for analysis once you have a connection.
Step 7: Review and Approve Your Comment Matches 👀
Once AI processes your inputs, your matched comments will be ready for review. For each match, you can:
Approve it as-is
Edit it before approving
Assign a photo from the mini gallery of images associated with that audio entry
No comment enters the report until you approve it. Approved comments will appear in the section just like any other comment in your report.
Inspectors handle approval in different ways, some batch all inputs and approve at the end, others go section by section. Do whatever works best for your workflow!

How accurate is AI Report Assist at matching audio to the right comments?
Depending on the quality of the input, AI Report Assist gets it right between 85-95% of the time.
On average, early testers have needed to make minor edits to 1 in 10 comments before approving.
Does AI Report Assist automatically match photos?
AI Report Assist only assigns comments and does not select photo matches.
Any photos added to a collection with an audio entry will show in a mini gallery and can be easily assigned to the right comment.
Automatic photo matching was tested earlier but found to be less accurate and more time-consuming to correct than selecting from the gallery.
How is AI Report Assist trained?
Spectora user data has not been used to train AI Report Assist. It uses established major AI models, optimized through improved prompting and other non-data tools.
Does this feature cost extra to use?
AI Report Assist is free for all users during the early access period. It will eventually become a paid feature as AI capabilities carry additional costs for Spectora to run and develop.
