When using new software, it's common to want to know exactly how everything will look from your client's perspective. You want to know if the steps are easy to follow and if the process is simple to complete. In this article, we'll show you a glimpse of how the inspection process works from the client's perspective.

The Client's Process

From a client's perspective, a home inspection is a crucial step in the process of buying or selling a property. From an inspector's perspective, being able to see what the client sees when booking a home inspection with you allows you to easily help your clients if they need assistance with the process.

In this section, we'll walk through how a client books an inspection with you, completes the required tasks, and views the final report.

๐Ÿ”ด Note: In order to take payments online through the portal links, you'll need to set up Spectora Payments first. Click here to set up your Payments.

๐Ÿ’ก Quick tip: Click on the video above to expand it in another window.

  1. First, the client will schedule an inspection with you either online or over the phone

    1. If scheduling online, they can select the services they want and enter the address of the home

  2. Next, they'll enter their contact information

  3. They'll choose an available time for you to perform the inspection

  4. They will then receive a confirmation email from you

  5. The confirmation email will contain a link to their secure, private portal

  6. The client portal will contain all necessary information for the client including the agreements, payment options, invoices, and the final reports

  7. The client will digitally sign their inspection agreement(s) online through the portal

  8. After signing the agreements, they will enter their payment information online

  9. Each inspection you schedule has its own payment link in the portal

  10. This payment box is directly linked to the associated inspection

  11. Once they have signed the agreement(s) and paid for the inspection, they will see the report(s) in the portal as soon as you publish

    • Once your client books their inspection, they will receive an auto-generated email that allows them to sign the Inspection Agreement and pay.

    • There is no need to direct clients to your site to have them pay.

    • This makes it easier for clients and itโ€™s less for you to track.

  • The Client Portal

    • Inside the auto-generated email is a link to what we call the client portal.

    • This is a secure, private portal that contains the payment option and the agreements for the client to sign.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I add my Spectora Payments link to my website?

    • Unfortunately, not! When a client books an inspection with you, they receive a link to their own private portal. This portal contains the payment option for them to pay online. Because this is a secure link that is generated for each client, it's not possible to have it added to your website.

  • I prefer to take payments through another app like Zelle or Venmo. How would that work?

    • You can customize your payment instructions to let clients know your preferred payment app. Click here to see how!

    • After receiving payment through your preferred method, you'll need to mark the inspection as "paid" so the client can view their report. Click here to see how!
