We've just rolled out a new feature that lets you pick between two types of signatures for your inspection agreements: written signatures or checkbox signatures. This is built to ensure you are able to adapt to the legal requirements in your area and make your life a whole lot easier.

Choosing Your Signature Style

To find this option, head over to Settings > Business Tools > Inspection Agreements, and voila! You'll find the option to choose your preferred signature style.

Understanding the Difference:

Good news: written signatures and checkbox signatures are legit and legally binding in most places!

  • Both formats capture the data, time, and IP address when the agreement is saved.

    • These are important factors to ensure agreements hold up in court.

  • Certain cities, areas, or provinces may have their own laws about this.

    • One notable example is the Alberta province in Canada. They have laws that require written signatures.

TLDR: We advise looking into your local laws when making your decision and/or consulting legal advice to be sure your agreement meets the requirements.

If I Make a Change, When Does it Apply?

  • Switching over to a different signature type will apply immediately!

    • Any unsigned agreements will display your new signature format.

    • All future agreements will also be updated.

    • Any signed agreements will remain untouched,

Reminder: If you have any emails or texts set up with images or a guide on signing agreements, we recommend updating them before making the switch.
