Add the Wind Mit Form to an Inspection

Once the template is added to your library, it’s simple to include it in any relevant inspection.

Filling Out the Opening Protection Chart

The Opening Protection Chart on a Florida Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form assesses the level of protection for openings (windows, doors, skylights, etc.) in a building. This is important for determining eligibility for insurance discounts on windstorm premiums.

Per the form's instructions:
"Place an 'X' in each row to identify all forms of protection in use for each opening type. Check only one answer below (A thru X), based on the weakest form of protection (lowest row) for any of the Glazed openings and indicate the weakest form of protection (lowest row) for Non-Glazed openings."

Each Item in the template corresponds to the applicable row: N/A, A, B, C, D, N, and X.

Inside each Item, you'll find the comments that correspond with the applicable columns in the report.

Checking a comment will mark the related box on the report. For example, if a property doesn't have any skylights, you would enter the "N/A - Not Applicable" Item, and then select the "Glazed Openings: Skylights" comment to mark the correct box on the form.

Tips for Using the Florida Wind Mitigation Form Effectively

  • Once you've downloaded the form, we recommend you go through both the "Inspector Information" and "Inspector Certification" sections. This will help ensure that as many comments as possible will be automatically filled in when starting your report. You'll find that many comments are pre-filled with placeholders that will automatically pull in the relevant information from your account.

    • If you need to add or change anything, you can find our complete list of placeholders by clicking here.

  • The address listed on the Wind Mit form is directly linked to the address of the inspection. In order to change the address on the form, you will need to change the address of the inspection itself.

    • If you have multiple reports on one inspection that are for different units, you can rename each of the reports to reflect the unit! Click here to see how.

  • The Wind Mit form has a designated place for photos, which is under Additional Information > Photos.

    • Photos added in any other comment will not be displayed on the final report.

  • Due to the complex coding of the Wind Mit form, it cannot be edited. Edits made to the template pose a high risk of the template output breaking and making the report unreadable.
