1) Modern Design

If someone lands on your website and leaves due to an old, outdated looking site, this hurts your SEO.

If your site doesn't look similar to some of these demos, then it's time for a refresh.

2) Basic Title Tags

90% of inspector sites miss this.

This is what shows up when you hover over your tab in the browser.

This is also what shows up in Google search results.

Your title tag of your home page (and other pages) should be something like:

"Home Inspector for [Your City] | [Your Company Name]"

*We build this into every site we build. If you can't find where to edit this, contact your website manager or hosting provider.

3) Blog, Blog, Blog

Google themselves state that this is one of the top 2 ranking factors. So do it!

If you need help with topics, start with these basic ideas. Here are some answers to common questions:

  • Post once every 1 or 2 weeks to start.

  • Word count doesn't matter - just focus on being helpful and answering your reader's questions

  • Share your blog posts in your newsletters, social media and in your transaction emails

  • This takes months of consistency so trust in the process!

4) Home Page Content

More content on your home page not only helps in Google's eyes (since your home page is what Google sees the most) but it helps clients and agents convert into online bookings!

Write about why you started the biz, what you do well, your vision for your clients/agents, what your reports are like, what to expect before/after, etc. Here is a great example.

5) Online Booking

If you don't have an easy way for clients/agents to schedule on your site, you're missing out on business.

Google knows when someone goes to your site and books an inspection. This signals to Google that you are a high quality inspector since their search ended at your site.

Spectora's online scheduler is clean and easy-to-use.

6) Reviews

Reviews are really important. Prioritize Google Reviews until you are over 50, then you can start sprinkling in other relevant sites in your area. Most areas this is Yelp, HomeAdvisor or Spectora.

(To find who is relevant, just search for "home inspector [your city]" and see who ranks in the top 5)

Our Blipp integration makes this a breeze.
