We’re excited to announce an update to how you can log in and sign up for Spectora! To make things easier and more secure, we're rolling out Single Sign-On (SSO), giving you the option to log in with your Google or Apple account, in addition to the traditional email and password.
Here’s everything you need to know about what’s changing, how it works, and what to expect.
What's New
You can now use Google or Apple sign-on! SSO is supported on both the Spectora web browser and mobile app, so you’ll have a seamless login experience wherever you go. Or, you can continue using email + password, just like before.
Already have a Spectora account? If your Spectora login email is linked to a Google or Apple account, you can start using SSO immediately, no setup required.
When accessing the login page you'll now see the option to choose your Google account to sign in with, sign in with Apple, or the traditional login:
🔴 If you already have a Spectora account and want to login with Google or Apple SSO, the emails must match. Your original Spectora login email must be the same as your Google or Apple account email you're using.
Signing up for the first time? You’ll be able to choose your preferred method: Google, Apple, or email and password:
When signing up via Google or Apple SSO go straight into a smooth onboarding process!
Fill out quick info form (e.g., years in business, team size)
Create a test inspection
Get a QR code to download the mobile app
Land directly in your first inspection page
This improved process is part of our broader mission to make getting started with Spectora easier than ever.
Things to Keep in Mind
While SSO makes things simpler overall, there are a few situations where you might have questions or run into snags when transitioning to this option. Here’s what to keep in mind:
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
If you have 2FA enabled on both your Google/Apple account and your Spectora account, you'll go through two separate 2FA steps.
While it might feel redundant, this is part of each separate platform's security protocols, and a sign of strong account protection.
Apple's “Hide My Email” Feature
When using Apple Sign-In, Inspector's can choose to hide their real email. This creates a randomized Apple relay email (for example: something@appleid.com)
That email becomes your Spectora login email and will appear in:
Your profile
Reports and receipts
Automated emails
You can follow the steps from this page, under the section "Stop using Sign in with Apple with an app", to be prompted to share your email(s) on the next login attempt.
Duplicate Accounts from SSO
If you originally signed up with email/password, and later use SSO with a different email, Spectora will think you’re a new user and create a new account.
You might log in and think your inspections or team data are missing, but they’re just in your original account!
Support can help you get back into your correct account and avoid duplicates in the future.
🔴 Important: If you accidentally create two separate Spectora accounts, reach out to support for assistance.
Why We’re Doing This
This update is about more than just convenience, it’s a step forward for all Spectora users.
Faster login: If you're already signed into Google or Apple, you're in with one click!
Fewer passwords: No more juggling login credentials across apps and websites.
Better experience: SSO is now the standard across modern platforms, and we’re bringing that same ease to Spectora.
More growth: For new users, this smoother sign-up experience means more time inspecting, less time stuck logging in.
